Stars Get Carl Sneep From Penguins

The Stars on Thursday acquired ECHL D Carl Sneep from the Penguins in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in the 2013 NHL entry draft, according to an ESPN.com report.

Rangers Send Kolarik To Pens For Ferriero

Rangers President and GM Glen Sather announced today that the club has acquired forward Benn Ferriero from Pittsburgh in exchange for forward Chad Kolarik.

Ferriero, 25, has registered four goals and 14 assists for 18 points, along with 14 penalty minutes in 34 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL this season. 

Originally selected by the Coyotes as a seventh round choice (196th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Ferriero signed as a free agent with the Sharks on August 23, 2009. 

Kolarik, 26, has registered 16 goals and 19 assists for 35 points, along with 38 penalty minutes in 41 games with the Connecticut Whale (AHL) this season.

Lightning Acquire Jean-Francois Jacques

The Lightning have acquired forward Jean-Francois Jacques from the Panthers in exchange for future considerations, vice president and GM Steve Yzerman announced today.

Jacques, 27, has played in 24 games this season with the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL, collecting five goals and seven points to go along with 37 penalty minutes. The left winger ranks tied for first on the Rampage with three power play goals.

The Montreal, Quebec native has skated in 166 career NHL games with the Oilers and Ducks, recording nine goals and 17 points to go along with 197 penalty minutes. Last season Jacques appeared in six games with the Ducks and tallied 12 penalty minutes.

Jacques was originally drafted by the Oilers in the second round, 68th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Rangers Trade Grant To Sharks For Mashinter

Rangers President and GM Glen Sather announced today that the club has acquired forward Brandon Mashinter from the Sharks in exchange for forward Tommy Grant and a conditional pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Mashinter, 24, has registered two goals and three assists, along with 44 penalty minutes in 30 games with the Worcester Sharks of the AHL this season. On November 11, he notched his first goal of the season with a power play tally against Providence and, on December 29, recorded the game-winning goal with 3:37 remaining in regulation for a 3-2 victory against Providence.

Coyotes Acquire Matthew Lombardi From Leafs

GM Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have acquired center Matthew Lombardi from the Maple Leafs in exchange for the Coyotes fourth round draft choice in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

“We are very pleased to bring a player like Matthew back to our team,” said Maloney. “Matthew is a very strong skater who will add quickness and skill to our lineup. He is an intelligent center who will be a great addition to our team and provides us with added depth at the center position.”

Last season, Lombardi played 62 games with Toronto, recording 8-10-18 and 10 penalty minutes.

Kings Send Westgarth To Hurricanes For Stewart

The Kings have acquired forward Anthony Stewart from the Hurricanes along with their fourth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Draft and their sixth-round selection in the 2014 NHL Draft in exchange for forward Kevin Westgarth, Kings President/GM Dean Lombardi announced today.

Stewart, 28, has played in 262 career NHL games with the Hurricanes, Thrashers and Panthers. He has recorded 71 points  and 123 penalty minutes.  
 
A 6-3, 230-pound native of La Salle, Quebec, Stewart last year played in 77 games for Carolina and he recorded 11 points .  The previous season he recorded a career-high 14 goals with the Thrashers.
 
Westgarth has played in 90 regular season games with the Kings dating back to the 2008-09 season.  Last year he played in 25 regular season games and had two points.
